About this service
Low iron levels and iron deficiency can contribute to fatigue, dizziness, headaches, poor concentration and reduced quality of life. At Winthrop Medical Centre, we offer iron infusion treatments for eligible patients requiring rapid iron replacement when oral iron supplements are ineffective, poorly tolerated or insufficient.
Our GPs assess your symptoms, iron studies and overall health to determine whether an iron infusion is appropriate for your situation. Iron infusions are commonly considered for patients with iron deficiency anaemia, heavy menstrual bleeding, pregnancy-related iron deficiency, chronic disease or ongoing fatigue associated with low iron stores.
We are also experienced in assisting pregnant patients requiring iron infusions during pregnancy, particularly throughout the third trimester when iron demands significantly increase. Our dedicated clinical team provides supportive and carefully monitored care to help optimise iron levels before delivery and support both maternal and foetal wellbeing.
The procedure is performed in a monitored clinical setting with patient safety and comfort as a priority. Many patients notice improvements in energy levels, concentration and general wellbeing following treatment. Our team provides comprehensive assessment, monitoring and follow-up care to help manage and prevent recurrent iron deficiency.
