COVID Boosters and RSV Vaccinations Available
06 June 2026

COVID-19 boosters and RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) vaccinations are available at Hatherley Medical Centre for eligible patients. Both viruses can cause serious illness in older adults, infants and people with underlying health conditions, and vaccination remains the most effective way to reduce that risk.
COVID-19 boosters
The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) recommends additional COVID-19 doses based on age and clinical risk. Current guidance includes:
– Adults aged 75 years and over: a booster every 6 months
– Adults aged 65 to 74 years: a booster every 12 months, or every 6 months if at higher risk
– Adults aged 18 to 64 years with severe immunocompromise: a booster every 12 months, or every 6 months on advice from their doctor
– All other adults: a booster every 12 months is available if you choose to have one
Boosters are funded under the National Immunisation Program and are free for everyone, regardless of Medicare status.
RSV vaccinations
RSV is a common respiratory virus that causes mild cold-like symptoms in most adults but can lead to severe lower respiratory illness in infants and older adults. Vaccination is now recommended for:
– Pregnant women between 28 and 36 weeks gestation, to protect newborns in the first months of life
– Adults aged 75 years and over
– Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 60 years and over
– Adults aged 60 to 74 years with certain medical risk conditions
Maternal RSV vaccination and infant RSV protection are funded under the National Immunisation Program. Adult RSV vaccines may be available privately — please ask our reception team for current pricing.
How to book
Eligibility can be complex and depends on your age, health history and previous vaccinations. To find out which vaccines are recommended for you, call reception on (08) 9310 4400 or book a short appointment online via HotDoc to discuss with your GP.
